Hey!

Welcome back to the world wide web, esper comic dot net.

While I didn't change much of the content (check the about page), I made a lot of interface changes.

Isn't that great?

Dun dun dunnnnnn!

Happy it's-been-a-month-since-I-updated!

Also, happy President's Day! I'm out of school today. :D

I'm going to try and make some changes to the site today, so keep an eye out for those.

The background texture for today's comic was provided Akinna-stock of DeviantART.

Yeah, yeah. It's been a while.

Stuff went down in #espercomic. And in short, Mr. Monkey and Dib are not in the comic any more.

It's also one of the primary reasons the comic has been taking a while. :|

I'm just not going to make any more excuses. XD

But anyway, here's a monday comic! Hooray! I wanted to color it, but Photoshop was being mean about greyscale configuration.

Comic anyway, and blog post.

The IRC Gateway is down.
Posted by Sabata

This morning I received a memo from Dib, who said that the CGI:IRC address was banned from the network. I don't know why, but it's probably because the gateway is effectively a proxy that lets anyone in, even if they've been banned from the server.

I completely understand why the staff of Espernet would do this, as it's just not a good idea to have some way for every banned person to get back on the network. I probably would have removed the gateway myself, or else pursued the alternative, had I known.

The alternative being removing the encryption on the CGI:IRC interface. The first part of the user's address (user@ip) is, in CGI:IRC, the IP address of the user's computer converted into hexadecimal. Therefore, it is possible to remove this and let the normal IP be shown and also to be able to link the gateway users with personal client ones. Of course, that would probably mean extra effort on the part of the staff, and it's something I can't figure out how to do very easily.

Anyways, I apologize for the inconvenience. And to the staff of Espernet, for presenting this problem. But hopefully we can figure something out, right?

Right.

Yes, you do. You just aren't allowed to see the logic in that.
